Yasmina’s house in Syria was hit, and shell fragments got stuck in her left eye. As a result, she lost eyesight in one of her eyes. We will be walking with Yasmina through her recovery plan and providing her with the evisceration surgery she needs!

When the US & its western allies went to war in Iraq the narrative changed. From a war (Afghanistan) that was perceived as a justified reaction to the horror of 9-11 to, in the view of many Muslims, a war on Islam. That strengthened the terrorist networks the US set out to defeat

It feels as if the conversations about “stability” are actually all about how to trap Afghans in Afghanistan. No country wants to deal with an influx of refugees.

Don’t forget it didn’t start with 9/11. I watched orderly Soviet departure on their last plane out of Kabul in 1989 after ten years of war, and saw Mujahideen capture the city in 1992 and within days turn on each other. Then rise of Taliban. Lifetimes of pain in Afghanistan

Being an Afghan journalist in Afghanistan is like writing a story about different fires in your house and report the burning of each part, despite your family members being stuck there and you can’t help them. Just in case if you don’t know how it feels.

The chaotic collapse of Afghanistan makes the US look weak, but it’s also a reminder of how strong the US is. Removing what had become a relatively small amount of US support destroyed everything. Perhaps the point isn’t only to achieve things, but to prevent them.
