If you are not used to working from home and it’s not part of the routine I think it’s understandable that you are not instantly as productive as in an office. It’s a novelty just like moving to a new office, takes a while to get used to a new environment.

It is also a clear consequence of supervision-based work reality. Completely self-directed work is often suppressed and has been since school. For workers who were punished for structuring their days themselves, it is not surprising that they'd treat this as a vacation.

It's taken me nearly a decade to be consistently productive remotely. I'm probably at 20% effective use of time, and I work for myself. Not surprised employees who are new to remote work are not making the most it.
