I'll start. I think its extremely good and helpful when someone says my drawing reminds them of some other character or whatever. It is important for artists to be aware of whats out there and if you are getting too similar to an established idea by accident.

Oh another one. I think photobashing is extremely fun and I like the way it looks so long as there is still plenty of care put in.

I kinda find artwork from the old masters really boring. (Despite the fact that I highly respect the techniques)
-
Oh yeah for real. Portraits of dudes with mustaches is lame as shit.

While there's definitely some truth to it, saying that "followers and likes aren't what's truly important" is pretty easy when you're already an established artist with 15k followers.

Anyone who tells you a big following doesn't matter is a liar. Of course it matters, more eyes on your work leads to more opportunities.

here's a unpopular opinion, i think artists look too much to popular trends in art communities and what's impressive to other artists(general skill) rather than looking to make things for the audience that directly consumes their work

I always felt my work played better to laypeople than to the artstation crowd. So maybe I've been doing that by accident? I'm a big believer in an artist should paint things that make them happy more than anyone else's input.

Tracing a photo reference is fine as long as it’s just to get the pose/expression down
-
Its also fine if you have rights to the photo or took it yourself. Tracing is a thing many pros use to save time.
