    The community supervision populations dwarf that of the prison system, and together they constitute the largest segment of the carceral state. According to U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, about 4.5 mil adults— or 2% of the adult population — are on supervision.

    Can’t quite believe we’re at a point where Trump highlighted criminal justice reform and clemency in his ad in the Super Bowl. Not sure what to say other than this shows criminal justice reform can be a winning issue for anyone.

    New article with Mississippi’s prisons are in crisis. Fires and riots broke out in facilities and since then much of the system has been on extended lockdown. At least twelve incarcerated persons have died.
