I will say that I give Rowling credit, in the middle of a book full of magic drugs that are either just herbal remedies from real life, not taken seriously, etc., for formulating a drug addiction with magic story with Dumbledore and the Pensieve that both makes sense&is magic

(I mean this is the only reasonable explanation that he already knows what all the gross flavors are as soon as he tastes them Who would instantly bite into a golden jellybean, taste something bitter and go "Earwax!" unless they were thinking earwax already)

I want to know why they know what earwax tastes like. The only explanations I can come up with involve someone actually eating earwax. Talk me down from this ledge. It's gross out here. I don't like this.

The beans, being magic, can taste like earwax without the makers knowing what earwax tastes like The question is how Dumbledore knows what it tastes like
