It makes more sense anyway than the Doctor radically changing appearance but always looking "white" by modern Earth standards

The first doctor was only a bit over a 100 when he regenerated. His granddaughter was probably his granddaughter. Or great grand daughter

That doesn't quite make sense when it was his first body and Time Lords canonically can physically live way longer than that without aging
