Hal Duncan Retweeted Ben Cameron
I hereby dub this sitcom "What the Dickens?"https://twitter.com/ben_cameron/status/884751971776962561 …
Hal Duncan added,
Hans's catchphrase on discovery of some situation comedically fucked up by Charles shall be, "What the...?! DICKENS!!!"
It shall be made in the late 1980s or early 1990s starring Adrian Edmondson as Dickens and Rik Mayall as Anderson.
Since Andersen was the instigator here why not "Dickin' with Dickens"
Given Andersen's sexuality, that'd take on a whole other meaning. And given his seeming celibacy rather inaptly.
It's just too much of an Americanism for me, man. I need old school 1980s BBC phrasing.
When I was an Online Kid in the late '90s I made the observation that most of those old school Internet acronyms sounded like BBC sitcoms
"Laughing Out Loud" "Your Mileage May Vary" "In My Humble Opinion"
You can totally sketch out the premise of each one and who'd probably be cast in it
I'd probably be a fan of "I Am Not A Lawyer"
I never miss "If I recall correctly'
I imagine "If I Recall Correctly" as pretty much being exactly "Last of the Summer Wine"
