("Christ is free of sin despite being Man because sin is carried by male mitochondria, and he lacks a Y chromosome.")

Replying to @BootlegGirl @OwlWithAGuitar
Yeah that fails in both directions because everyone only gets mitochondria from their mother anyway

The sperm cell uses up all its mitochondria on its tail to get to the egg and nothing makes it inside but the head

On the other hand if sin came from the Y chromosome itself then no AFAB children would have it

That's why we have Mitochondrial Eve and Y-Chromosome Adam

Mitochondrial DNA is the only thing you know you get from your mom specifically and your Y chromosome the only thing you get from your dad

Since an X chromosome could be either

That's a frustrating thing btw -- there's nothing special about Mitochondrial Eve

It's just simple logic saying if everyone gets their mitochondria only from their mom and not their dad an "Eve" must exist

Like, say, if we all strictly followed the rule you only inherit your dad's surname and not your mom's and never changed names

Then eventually we'd all have one guy's surname after enough time passed, and which surname it was would be totally random
