Arthur Chu added,
My favorite thing about Lincoln was he had a huge reputation for being an extrovert despite being massively introverted
To the point where in his own diary and according to his closest friends he could be said to have what we'd call social anxiety disorder
He had a deliberate strategy of working really hard at rehearsing a bunch of, essentially, stand up comedy and storytelling bits
He'd show up early at a party, make a huge show of meeting everyone as they came in, dominate the conversation with hilarious patter
And then after having made an impression as the life of the party he'd disappear half an hour in
Everyone assumed he was so cool he was talking to a more important inner circle but in fact he just ghosted to his room to read by himself
All you hipster nerds who think you invented that trick, you did not, Abraham Lincoln did, and used it to become President
Probably far too nerdy to be elected today
Oh without a doubt. Plus the whole weird voice and freakishly tall/skinny things. Not made for this era at all.
I also relate to how he took a lot of shit because since he was a big reader he mispronounced many words he'd only seen in print
