So part of earth survives with shielding, and the mass of the new supergalaxy pulls lots of things in super close

So anyway,it turns out very few civilizations were even as lucky as us,but we did end up suddenly clustered near some other sentient species

However, most humans died and there are way too few to prevent our extinction due to a lack of a gene pool

It turns out that the supercluster, which is orbiting a black hole fairly stably, has numerous civilization remnants within a single light yr

However, one civilization happened to get super lucky; their star actually survived and their orbit wasn't totally fucked.

They formed an empire in this region of the supercluster and offer the decimated other species, including humans, roles as cloned servitors

So humans have to decide if they're happy being clone servants to the one species that has a real population, or if they want t take chances

Anyway, what IS the minimum number of surviving humans to plausibly repopulate?

I've heard 50 is the bare minimum for near-term survival (although such a community would probably succumb to inbreeding long-term)

500 is the minimum for indefinite survival, 1,000+ preferred for survival without intense management of breeding
