They talked about how they wanted the movie to center Jewish and Muslim POVs on Moses as much as/more than Christian ones

To varying degrees of success (religious Muslims & Jews were much less ok with a humanized, flawed portrayal of Moses)

See I would think we'd be MORE ok with it since all Biblical characters are flawed in our texts.. David & Jacob were terrible parents e.g.

It's in the text that Moses committed the sin of pride and wasn't able to make it to the Promised Land

But it's a matter of doctrine for some that was a prophet/patriarch he existed on a higher level and his sins were if a different order

That's true. He's supposed to be the *highest* prophet. The part where he rebuffs God for asking him to go to Egypt is totally true though

One thing ppl noted that they always leave out in movies (for obvious reasons) - Moses being a stutterer and Aaron speaking for him

Yeah. One interpretation suggests he was "heavy of tongue" because he was raised Egyptian and didn't know Hebrew, which intrigues me.

We never hear about Aaron though until that scene at the bush, where God suddenly mentions him. Before that, nada

FYI, if anyone wonders why I can spout off all these factoids it's cuz I lead the family Pesakh seder every year & reread it when I do

It's fairly common (happens in The Ten Commandments and Prince of Egypt) to make Aaron an unsympathetic character as Moses' foil

Which some would say is unfair, but then there's the Golden Calf thing that happens later in the story

Cf. the subtext where Prince of Egypt almost makes Miriam into the movie's real hero
