And the "Fans didn't like the sequel" trope (which isn't even an actual trope of the story itself) goes under YMMV

It really seems like a big part of what they mean by "trope" is more properly "storytelling convention", as in deviation from real life

Hence the idea that giving a realistic-sounding explanation for a "trope" makes it a "justified trope"
