"hard drugs" is such a weird word, since there's basically one "soft" drug and it's actually more illegal than most "hard" stuffpic.twitter.com/cbTPLMuFwu

I always counted nicotine and alcohol as "soft drugs", it's stupid not to
I'm not sure I'd make nicotine "soft". Sure, it's got limited effects on mental state, but it's incredibly addicting.
"Soft" is more about legality than objective danger
And pot is "soft" now because of decriminalization efforts despite still being Schedule I
tbf it being Schedule I in the first place was always pretty bullshit when you compare it to the other major recreational drugs
Re: caffeine, I recently read a book about Tommy Wiseau and the making of The Room
And the author said as long as he'd known him Wiseau had never drunk or done drugs
But he did have a bizarre sleep schedule and pretty much was constantly sleep deprived and dependent on energy drinks
Which I think is a form of substance abuse and certainly of altered consciousness
That's what happens when you've been living under an assumed name after jumping out of a hijacked plane!!
Joking aside (though I love that theory), yeah, I'd call that substance abuse of some stripe
