I wouldn't go so far as to say awareness of the ethics of companies you buy from doesn't matter, I think it does

And part of the game so far has been for 1%ers to get us to invest our identities in consumption much more than in labor

But also in general I think systemic problems can only be addressed systemically - putting a minimum wage into law has most effect of all
