Other reasons: 4. durable. You drop it it still works. 5. I live in ~700 sq ft. My books are ~10 of that, they're vertical
books don't just take up volume, dude, they also have weight
(You pay rent for space, my co op isn't charging me extra for the load on the floor :-) )

You own a couch? A TV? It's no different than anything else. I have a pretty big "library" but added up it's a couch.
more seriously, if ppl are willing to give space to tables, beds, etc books arent much different
