Arthur Chu added,
Among other things, but they would say the documented atrocities of colonialism helped prevent greater bloodshed
Because, they said, the Brits, being civilized white men, were capable of maintaining a multi-ethnic multi-faith society
And they would point to the horrible suffering of the Partition into India and Pakistan as evidence "British rule wasn't so bad"
NOW they are walking this back and saying NO ONE can live in a multi-ethnic multi-faith society, INCLUDING the Brits
And pointing to the Partition as an inevitability and using the Partition to justify THEIR OWN exclusionary policies at home
The amount of gall this takes is enormous. You'd think it should come with an apology "There was no justification for the Raj after all"
