in the late 1940s there was a conscious, concerted effort to erase the gains made during the war
when we think of "1950s values" that was something government industry & media created on purpose
yeah, and the comics code literally codifies this in the early 50s
right, Seduction of the Innocent was just one of the popular moral panics of the time
fear of disruption of "traditional values" dovetailed neatly with fear of communism
the Code is mostly remembered for sex & violence but it had all kinds of political shit in it too
No crooked cops, no corrupt US politicians, no making America be the bad guy
