Honestly I found Matt Damon's character's wisecracks in The Martian to be pretty grating & only gave him a pass bc he was gonna die alone
@AstroKatie I mean I buy the wisecracking as a defense mechanism to keep himself from panicking/going into shock but it's not that funny

@arthur_affect I think in the film it kinda works that way. But in the book you don't really get a sense he's concerned about death at all. -
