"Hacking is not a crime" is the SAME ARGUMENT as gun rights. "Don't be afraid of what I have the power to do, only intervene once I do it"

@arthur_affect I agree with you on gun rights, disagree with that analogy. Hacking without stealing is the same as a B/E without stealing.

@arthur_affect also arguments along these lines are used to make finding vulnerabilities a crime, which is something we can not afford

I was sympathetic to this arg until weev straight up argued hackers should cause damage so their "warnings" are taking srsly @SimonsMine

@arthur_affect there are nuances here, but things like OPM hack prove that we cannot afford making outsiders testing security illegal

@SimonsMine Ok and how do you distinguish the "white hats" from the "black hats"? Make them pinky swear?

@arthur_affect I think you over estimate the risk of black hat hacking vs actual cyber attack and govs ability to withstand business lobby

@arthur_affect aka I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the governments ruling on this as they will protect businesses from this

@arthur_affect but probably leave out the part of accountable transparent pen testing which is almost unmanageable anyway
