You can say whatever you want about how you power the Bitcoin grid If you magically made a proof-of-work cryptocurrency that could ONLY be powered by renewable energy it would still be a fucking environmental disaster

It is less dangerous in virtually every way to have a nuclear plant near your community than a coal plant in the exact same place. It even exposes the neighbors to less radioactivity, amazingly. The nuclear plant issue is a strict subset of all “where do we put the power plant”

And it's far better for investors than truly green energy, based on the extra "added-value" and the vast barriers to entry.

The most frustrating thing is that if we ever get fusion plants working there’s almost certainly going to be splash damage even though fusion plants share none of the dangers of a traditional fission-based power plant.

Well, okay, the second most frustrating thing. The most frustrating thing are climate activists who also want to shut all nuclear capacity down and don't see the contradiction.
