Republicans don't care anymore, they'll just straight up say it "Our policies are fundamentally unpopular and if subject to true democracy we would never win elections We should be installed in power by rigging the game to save dumb voters from themselves"

I mean they explicitly believe it They think of urban populations as seething hordes of dumb ignorant masses manipulated by clever elites And only the good decent outnumbered Americans in small towns can stop them

Yeah that's literally what making laws and having policy positions does. You make laws to change the rules. New tax law? Changes the "rules" of how much money is being allocated from someone to the government.

Well, he's right about one thing: I don't care that the founders thought it'd be a good idea to let small states have a massively disproportionate amount of influence in national decision-making.
