Software and tech, startups, small companies, accounting,law offices and consulting firms, finance. Offices I can think of off the top of my head where over 40 is routine.

And now, seems like being able to survive with just 40 hours is now a radical thing. You do 40 a week at any job? You should be secure in food, clothing and shelter...at a minimum.

It is no exaggeration to say people died for a 40 hour week, weekends, the 8 hour day, and other basic worker's rights we take for granted, and a lot of this happened only a hundred years ago.

I'm a fourth-generation union member. Danish unions got us the 36-hour five-day workweek, five weeks paid vacation, paid overtime, etc. I get so frustrated when people don't recognize just how bad things were not that long ago.
