Actually yes people who demand that I, personally, print out a copy of something that I've already sent them electronically and they've had ample time to print themselves are extremely old in the worst possible wayhttps://twitter.com/LeahPilcer/status/1384992061020008450 …

I think it's complicated why they do this, and part of the reason is that in many ways if you keep this fiction up it makes people easier to exploit But also I really think it's a lie bosses tell so they can live with themselves

Like the scene in Parasite where Mr. Kim spins this elaborate fantasy about the new, better job the chauffeur dude they got fired must've gotten, based on no knowledge, only wishful thinking "I'm not hurting anyone by making these kinds of decisions"

Speaking as someone whose job history is far from illustrious I have *always* hated the kinds of questions that get asked in interviews. "Why do you want to work here?" Because I need to make rent, asshole. This is retail. Nobody *wants* to work here.

And they know they're wasting your time when they ask, and they know you know, and that knowledge is part of the power dynamic. They just get to do this. I swear, reading about shitty food service jobs not being able to find people who'll put up with it is giving me life.
