And that's fair too, yeah. tbh the only kind of whiskey that is normally called "X whiskey" *is* Irish whiskey, now that i think about it; bourbon, rye, and Scotch are normally all called just the single word.

But also Scotch and Irish whiskey are both made primarily from barley, which is a third grain. So there really is a distinction between "whiskey" and "rye" to be made as well (even if your average Southerner probably isn't drinking the good stuff.)
