I'm genuinely curious what the draw of X-Men in the MCU even is.

The comics quickly learned that any comic book sold better if you put Wolverine in it somehow and the MCU is eager to repeat the experiment on the big screen

It'll only work if they find an actor who can measure up to Hugh Jackman in the public eye.

Comics Wolverine was always short-man representation (he was originally supposed to be 5'3", he's named after a wolverine because they're relatively small but vicious predators) and his fans were salty that they cast a 6'2" guy to play him

So even though they almost certainly won't do it, recasting him would be a way to rectify that Also to make the actor Canadian this time

HJ is 52, and the kind of working out and dieting required to maintain the Wolverine physique for another five or six movies might not be appealing to him. Nearly all the MCU's "wow, look at those muscles" actors were in their low 30s when they began MCU films.

Yeah it's always very stressful when you're an actor playing a character who's supposed to be immune to the aging process Jackman's whole thing with Logan was finally getting to play a version of the character who's allowed to look and feel old, and have aches and pains

Paul Bettany talked about how fortunate he is to live in an era where he can play an ageless android via mo-capped CGI and not the pounds of makeup they had to cake on Brent Spiner's face in Star Trek

Although even then playing human Vision was stressful, trying to not make it look like he has a good ten years on Liz Olsen They gave him prosthetics in WandaVision for his shoulders and chest and ass just to make him match the Greek-god physique of CGI Vision

They did an interview with him where they were like "With WandaVision, how does it feel to be the only actor to have a role in all three decades of the MCU?" "Wh -- all three decades -- oh my God, why would you say that to me Bloody hell, it IS three decades, Christ"

"Why do you have to SAY it like that, why can't you just say thirteen years Oh, Christ, it's been THIRTEEN YEARS"
