Regardless of whether or not the X-Men will ever be in the MCU, I do kind of wonder if adamantium, the metal, will ever be canon

I mean in the comics it's just a mixed alloy of vibranium and iron so like in theory you should already be able to make it if you're in the MCU

Adamantium is not, in fact, made from vibranium (this is a common misconception) Captain America's shield in the comics is a completely unique alloy made from vibranium and ordinary steel, and as a result is truly completely indestructible and has never been duplicated

Dr. Myron McLain made the shield by accident in the lab after falling asleep in the lab, and was unable to duplicate the formula because it used up his only sample of vibranium

McLain then went on to try to duplicate the shield's properties *without* the use of vibranium as his life's great work Adamantium is the result of this research (and the one thing we know about its secret formula is it *doesn't* contain vibranium)

Although the comics have been wildly inconsistent about this over time, and have created numerous "variants" of both vibranium and adamantium to explain the discrepancies, the hierarchy goes: Captain America's shield ("true adamantium") > adamantium > vibranium

Anyway, unless they actually literally do a crossover with the X-Men movies, they're unlikely to get very deeply into this in the MCU, considering the MCU just says the shield is made of regular vibranium They *may* say it about Wolverine's claws because they're iconic, idk

Reimagine Wolverine but make him Wakandan

Wolverine as a Wakanda War Dog who was captured by the US government and brainwashed as part of the same program Isaiah Bradley was in, which we can now just call the "Weapon X" program

If mutants aren't a thing in this universe, then change Wolverine's backstory so the super-soldier serum fucked him up in a way that gave him a healing factor but also a constant problem with mood swings and amnesia

(Like a more-serious version of what Deadpool's healing factor does to his brain)
