There are good reasons to not be vaccinated, but the ones that specifically apply more to men than to women have to do with being jackasseshttps://twitter.com/andizeisler/status/1385337662878359553 …

Oh ha yeah there's an article making this comparison directlyhttps://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/before-face-masks-americans-went-to-war-against-seat-belts/ar-BB14CsNG …
It's probably still a thing, right? I wonder what our rates are now.
It's probably a lot higher after they made car companies put in the alarm that goes off if the weight sensor detects an occupant in a front seat with an unbuckled belt when the engine turns on But that itself was this big controversial regulatory fight
My grandfather wouldn't wear a seatbelt. He said he'd hold himself in place by gripping the wheel *really tight*
There was this whole absurd argument back in the day about "passive mitigation" vs. "active mitigation" in an accident Like it was a cost-benefit ratio, the seatbelt provides excellent "passive mitigation" but hampers "active mitigation"
Car companies said the costs would be prohibitive and if people wanted them they would have asked. Same with safety glass windshields.
The arguments people used were dumb as shit too. “What if I got in an accident and the car was on fire and the seatbelt trapped me in the car?”
Oh lord yes. I worked with someone in the late 90s who still ranted about it, and I was a godsdamned *EMT*. Seat belts were non-negotiable with my folks, so I always wore mine, but I've never been able to sympathize with the "it's my business if I want to suffer a TBI" crowd.
I grew up always wearing it even in the back seat. An my friends in the 80s would make fun of me. I temped one summer at one of the State Police HQs and the detectives showed me all these pictures of accidents and I made damn sure to always wear it after that.
Yeah. My mom still acts like the new(ish) car seat laws for small children are incredible overreach.
