This isn't a criticism, since I have no great attachment to the original show, but the new Kung Fu has pretty much nothing to do with the David Carradine show other than being about kung fu, huh

I mean, the CW just got done with Supernatural and maybe they're tired of stories of people with no friends and family wandering around America anonymously righting wrongs Still and all

I have a sense that a lot of the new Asian-centered properties coming out lately have this whole "For Asians, FAMILY is EVERYTHING" angle and while I'm not like opposed to that I find it vaguely annoying

It's that thing where yes I find it problematic that the random Asian in the cast of an action movie is a taciturn loner with no friends but I always find such characters highly relatable
