It's just interesting looking at how much it's, like, completely the opposite of the original show's concept It's a family drama about a close-knit Asian-American community in a big city Rather than this one lone guy wandering the wilderness as an eternal outsider

I mean, the CW just got done with Supernatural and maybe they're tired of stories of people with no friends and family wandering around America anonymously righting wrongs Still and all

I have a sense that a lot of the new Asian-centered properties coming out lately have this whole "For Asians, FAMILY is EVERYTHING" angle and while I'm not like opposed to that I find it vaguely annoying

It's that thing where yes I find it problematic that the random Asian in the cast of an action movie is a taciturn loner with no friends but I always find such characters highly relatable

Technically, Warrior is closer to Kung Fu in spirit, but only because... (deep breath) the original treatment for what became Carradine's Kung-Fu was a script Bruce Lee wrote back in the 70's that would have been the first Asian-American action TV show.

He even pitched it as "Western meets Wuxia," where an Asian Kung Fu master would have all these adventures in the West, in ganglands, wherever he was needed. Natch, this never fell through with white suits at the time. Hence, Carradine. The show Warrior, meanwhile...

I saw more of the 90s sequel series where it's Carradine playing his own grandson and his estranged son is a cop. I have a nostalgic affection for all those syndicated action shows filmed in Canada.
