Makes me think of the bullshit justifications for why low-level jobs are like that. When the truth is that it's just punishing people for not being able to get a better job. There's no actual reason to not let people sit down if their job involves them staying in one place.

One boss used the Buckingham Palace guards to justify standing up for eight hours straight and like...they have shifts that go like, two hours on, four hours off. They're on duty for crazy long periods of time, but no one expects them to actually be on guard for eight hours.
