And I'm saying that's coming from a benefit of the doubt for someone who is far more coded as a resentful shitty herrenvolk lefty than she deserves.

Seriously, Karli is entirely believable for a sort of absolutely terrible person who makes leftish noises but is ultimately at best a selfish populist. There's lots of real world leftist movements like it RIGHT NOW, and many historically.

Karli doesn't say "we should take the lessons of the crisis period," every time she holds court it's spouting the rhetoric of resentment against Others/Outsiders. "They care more about the people who came back than the people who were left." "No one else will care about you."

I find it hard to be troubled by her rhetoric when her audience has been forced into camps. I don't know WHY it's happening, but she appears to be substantively correct.

It literally took until 5 episodes in before they brought that up and it's explicitly a thing that's not even settled or popular on the very global community she so hates.

The global community built the camps and evicted people. They're planning to move now to deportations, which is, yes, still being debated. But everything else the GRC wanted to do got done, so it's not like there are big checks on their power.

She's not on some YouTube channel talking to disaffected undergrads. The speeches are to people literally in refugee camps, and the Flag Smashers are welcomed by people on the edge.

It's incoherent because the show is poorly written and none of these setups follow from the premise, we're just intermittently told things about the world and then have to accept it because, hey, it's TV.

Again, Sam - who is the clear hero in this show - believes in Karli's goal and that she has a point even if he disagrees with her methods. That means we either take her at face value or assume that Sam is naive and understands his world less well than we do...

Sam believes she observes injustice and that she's not too far gone. Sam is also, bluntly, unaware of the fact that she and her crew murdered a bunch of captives in cold blood.

You mean blowing up the building? I don't think he's unaware, that's supposed to be national news

It also might not be clear that the building was blown up after all the people inside it had been subdued. Explosions have a tendency to make that kind of evidence hard to find.

Sam treats her like a misguided kid and not a cold-blooded murderer.
