She didn't want to undermine that but supplant it, I would argue. MLP:FIM was about showcasing that there were many ways to be a girl and all of them were valid. Most of that comes through super well in Season 1. Then Hasbro Happens and that meddling could fill a documentary
It's not really unexpected though, despite the irony, because too often we've seen things toe the line between the two and still attract the same kind of audience. The main difference is that FiM isn't seen as pandering or invasive, to them it just exists.
