And what I think is ironic about this is that when MLP:FiM was seen primarily as, you know, the children's show that it is, what was fun and cool and refreshing about it was Lauren Faust wryly poking fun at the cutesy throwback nature of MLP from a modern progressive POV
You know, making fun of and to a degree subtly undermining the whole narrative of little girls wanting to grow up to be a "princess"
there was also a lot of overlap with furries (even if neither side liked to admit it) and those also have a well-known issue with nazis. Seems more like they have successfully spread into pretty much any fandom in the internet age. Plenty of video game communities etc.
Yeah. Pretty much any fandoms with awkward, vulnerable types. Furries just happened to push back more.
I remember a bit ago when some mlp image boards tried to purge nazi and racist imagery from them and there was incredible backlash. I still find it sad that many people seemed to miss some of the show's important themes that oppose their ideology.
