I agreed with Chris Terrio when he came out and said the title "Batman vs Superman" cheapened the whole thing and made it really obvious they saw the story as an excuse to enable a wrestling matchup But really this isn't any better Honestly I think the idea of the movie is badhttps://twitter.com/DiscordianKitty/status/1384570679937445894 …

I can't remember which YouTuber it was, but they basically said that Superman has super-speed. He could go all the way to Kansas to borrow Martha's craft supplies and glitter for a "Lex Luthor wants us to kill each other"-poster and he'd still have been on time for the face-off.

The same awkwardly long table where Bruce and Vicki Vale sat at opposite ends of in the '89 movie. After a weird lunch Bruce stands up, throws down his finely made cloth napkin and says "No sir, I'm afraid we'll have to go to blows. Give me an hour to put on my armor."

My take is that them being opposed later in the franchise would have been more impactful than starting them off fighting. Skip shoving Doomsday and DKR into one movie and have them meet when another alien comes down and starts some shit, starting as tentative allies.

Lex Luthor contacting Batman about this thing he saw coming because he's paranoid monitoring space after the whole Zod thing. Batman arriving and finding Superman there, initially distrusting him. They develop a grudging respect, pull the other metas into the situation.
