again, I reiterate: it was a 4 star review. FOUR STARS. Not 1, not 2, not 3, FOUR. This whole tantrum and fears about book launch ruining over 4 stars. I'm so outdone. Yes to everything Mikki said, but also how about authors also chill out about 4 flipping stars??https://twitter.com/Karnythia/status/1383900361585434626 …

yeah guess what it is arbitrary and that's okay. jesus. all of this consternation could be solved by allowing for half stars or moving to a 10 star system.
-
Then they'll just get mad at rounding down a 9.5 to a 9! There will never be enough stars!

I'm having a difficult time following the plot vs. the emotions in this story.

It's kind of both. The arbitrariness sure, but also, that the arbitrary distinction between rounding to a 5 or 4 could "destroy someone's book before it even gets a chance to breathe"?pic.twitter.com/B7HB8ceLVm

I mean I guess it's a general complaint that reviewers are just random people who can use any system they want -- or no system at all -- to rate your book as they see fit Which I guess is a fair thing to be upset about but it also, you know, just how the world works

Idk to me it felt like she was just snipping about the pretentiousness the way I do about Yelp reviewers which.. yes isn’t a great idea to do publicly for her but also that IS an irritating phenomenon. But I might’ve missed something bc ppl’s reaction just seemed so weirdly big.
-
It's because it felt like she was singling out members of her own fandom who were giving her 4 and 5 star reviews by screenshotting them
