Fundamentally I just can't stand the larger corpus of MCU's attempts at humor, I really can't. The emphasis on kneecapping tension and sincerity kills me.

they wanted to riff on classic buddy cop stuff while also exploring american racism, imperialist exploitation, and the danger of the ubermensch, and i'm not sure the buddy cop structure can support the weight.

It kinda feels like they're going for jovial detachment, because wouldn't that be how the more emotionally people with the level of trauma superheroes must have would cope? I dunno if that's right all the time. But it does kinda work here more than some other places imo.

To be fair a lot of the humor in the MCU feels like they basically just said, "Hey every likes when Spider-Man tells jokes, right? So why don't all of them do that?"
