They sounded so _despondent_ and the clincher is how they thought that his service record should make _any difference_ to the nature of his charges when that was likely more of the same.

John Walker totally is a "victim of cancel culture" in that he pulled some shit that if not for his extreme privilege would've resulted in his life being literally destroyed, as in killed, but has only "destroyed his life" in the sense of being unemployed and very unpopular
