It is so, so obvious that the council in charge of shitcanning him is mostly pissed that he made them look bad, not over what he did "Why didn't you check for cameras John, you were right out in the open"https://twitter.com/AD_Strider/status/1383081268045361152 …

Light #FalconAndWinterSoldier spoilers: . . This #JohnWalker scene’s already living in my mind. The rage of a man who has long since lost the capacity to be anything other than a tool. It’s not excusing him or condoning any of it. But it’s painting a full picture of his pain. pic.twitter.com/9eRdlEIhlY

His biggest problem was always the part of the job where Captain America means being a public figure and role model You stick him in a poor country where the US media has no idea what's going on and believes everything the Army tells them, and he functions just fine

They sounded so _despondent_ and the clincher is how they thought that his service record should make _any difference_ to the nature of his charges when that was likely more of the same.

Yeah it's a pretty good scene in that they make us feel the weight of John's humiliation and despair even though the senator dude is right and he's incredibly lucky

This scene and the Isaiah scene are not things I expected from a Marvel TV show, in a good way. That Isaiah scene.....damn. My grandfather had been in WWII and absolutely refused to ever let me join the military so that was DEEP.

Props to them for not saying the important bit out loud all over the place this week Isaiah Bradley got thrown in jail for replicating, exactly, Steve Rogers’ first heroic feat (raiding a POW camp against orders to rescue his friends) and they call no attention to that

Honestly the most unrealistic part was that there weren’t right wingers defending him; especially chickenhawks

That's how you know that the former guy isn't president in the MCU, because instead of firing him, they would have given him a medal.

Especially given the Senator’s speech at the end of the episode. The show is pro-America (in the end, it disagrees with Isaiah Bradley) but not pro-military. Same line Coates walks in his Captain America run, I think.
