Do you think children's charities should be beyond criticism? RW mentioned Oxfam, do you think it's wrong of papers to report about latest claims? As RW said here does that mean they hate the people Oxfam helps? He was ambushed, why wouldn't he be reserved about being questioned?

But this is a lie The article he shared in 2018 and the comments he made in 2018 - and has repeated sporadically since - are NOT specifically about Mermaids mishandling funds or engaging in individual misconduct or whatever They are against Mermaids' core goal

Thorn was much more polite than he needed tú be about this - Webb was dodging to avoid being held to account for a position he obviously holds He said in so many words he was a "gender-critical feminist" and tried to pretend this has nothing to do with Thorn or his daughter

Is that Thorn's remit, to challenge his guests about their views on contentious issues? Passive aggressive more like. What did he want RW to say? He wanted him to say something, what was it? To repent? To explain himself? To discuss a very complex issue on what was meant 1/

I don't think anyone who's attacked gender-affirming parents should expect to sit down and have a talk with a gender-affirming parent in any context and not be challenged

Oh please. Did Thorn say before the interview, 'just to let you know I'm a gender-affirming parent, just in case it comes up'? Does everyone have to declare everything about themselves before an interview now, just in case? What nonsense.

Hey, you know what, sometimes if someone yells out an insult to a large group of people on Twitter, they end up being surprised by random people they know being in that group and trapped in awkward situations That's what happens when you're an asshole in public

The idea that Jesse Thorn was obligated to give some kind of fair warning here, that he's acting out of turn "Hey pal before we start the interview I think you should know, I may not look it, but I'm Asian"

Yes, actually an interviewer who asks people on to talk to them can be criticised for ambushing the interviewee with a personal agenda. Why didn't he let him know he was going to ask him about it, knowing how sensitive the issue is? 1/

I dunno, why didn't Webb look up Thorn, find out he's got a trans daughter (it's hardly a secret, he had a massive viral thread about it not long ago than many of Webb's mutuals jumped onto to attack Webb) and apologize?

I don't think you realize how obnoxious it is to pretend like the default stance everyone should have is "This trans stuff is just politics and no one should get personally offended by it" Like trans people aren't human beings who exist in the world and have family and friends
