But this is a lie The article he shared in 2018 and the comments he made in 2018 - and has repeated sporadically since - are NOT specifically about Mermaids mishandling funds or engaging in individual misconduct or whatever They are against Mermaids' core goal

Thorn was much more polite than he needed tú be about this - Webb was dodging to avoid being held to account for a position he obviously holds He said in so many words he was a "gender-critical feminist" and tried to pretend this has nothing to do with Thorn or his daughter

Is that Thorn's remit, to challenge his guests about their views on contentious issues? Passive aggressive more like. What did he want RW to say? He wanted him to say something, what was it? To repent? To explain himself? To discuss a very complex issue on what was meant 1/

I don't think anyone who's attacked gender-affirming parents should expect to sit down and have a talk with a gender-affirming parent in any context and not be challenged

Amazing how the GC demand is "Speak up! Children are being damaged! It's your responsibility to get involved!" on fucking Twitter Then when you're faced directly with one of the parents "damaging children" you suddenly clam up and get very quiet and it's a "complex issue"

What, when it's very clear that RW has been intimidated into silence in the first place. How dare you, here you all are on the flimsiest of contexts smearing him & threatening his reputation & career & you have the nerve to complain that he no longer wants to talk about it.

I'm sorry I don't see any legislation being passed anywhere against Robert Webb or his kids and yet somehow he's the victim in this scenario

Thorn even made it extremely clear why this issue is so personal to him - because he feels he and his daughter owe so much to Gender Spectrum, a US charity with a similar "agenda" to Mermaids, and Webb joined a public movement to call this "agenda" abuse and get them shut down

Whether or not Webb had the power to get Mermaids shut down, the fact that he tried its surely offensive to all the people he was attacking by doing this And the evidence is, looking at how things are today, he DID have a lot of power and the charities ARE under constant threat

The hyperbole is off the scale. Robert Webb, by sending a couple of tweets and agreeing with a newspaper article has lots of power to get a charity shut down? FGS. Oh really, Mermaids is under constant threat, of what?

If he didn't think his voice mattered then why wouldn't he use it He specifically spoke up because he thought he had a duty to do so
