Thank you for popping the absurd ego bubble of the British Guardian media clique with some very simple questioning on Webb's views that he is so unaccustomed to receiving in the UK that he immediately throws his toys out of the pram.

Do you think children's charities should be beyond criticism? RW mentioned Oxfam, do you think it's wrong of papers to report about latest claims? As RW said here does that mean they hate the people Oxfam helps? He was ambushed, why wouldn't he be reserved about being questioned?

Because if he unambiguously supports the rights of trans people, he could have taken the opportunity to communicate that, as opposed to becoming sullen and defensive

There's nothing he could have said which would have stopped the very reaction which is on this thread. His reaction is one of someone who knows this is going to happen. Why prostrate himself when it would all be misconstrued anyway.

We have very different perspectives on this issue, my pal, starting with the characterization of treating trans people with dignity as “prostration.” Have a good day

That's you misconstruing again, because that isn't what I said. There seems to be a need to demand grovelling apologies, which are then greeted with 'that's not good enough'. It never is good enough.

It's good enough if you actually apologize for and take back the statement that "transing kids" is abusive and parents supporting trans kids are abusers If you don't take that back, said parents will continue to act like you insulted and attacked them, because you did

Firstly, don't lie, it's NEVER good enough. There's always further condemnation, calls for them to do something to actively show their support etc Secondly, don't pretend you're quoting Robert Webb, take back what 'statement', what did he actually say? Why should he apologise?

Yes, surprisingly, when you attack and insult someone, there's no magic formula for suddenly making everyone you attacked and insulted go back to normal and treat you like a buddy

And the specific thing Webb did, which everyone is dancing around, is share an article by Janice Turner describing the core mission of Mermaids as abusive to children and advocating children's gender identity be challenged in hopes of desistance

It is not some specific question of saying "The people who run Mermaids are bad at their jobs", it was saying that the philosophy behind Mermaids - the belief that trans children should be affirmed and supported - is evil and wrong
