Iron Man 3 really does has a feel of being non-canon, huh

Infinity War kind of retcons the character development from this movie (everything is fine between Tony and Pepper again) but then Endgame prominently brings the kid from this movie back for Tony's funeral

I think it went: Iron Man - coworkers Iron Man 2/Avengers/Iron Man 3 - dating Age of Ultron - ??? Captain America: Civil War - split (no explanation) Spider-Man: Homecoming - back together Infinity War - engaged No real retcon, but certainly not a smooth arc.

The explanation for the split is that Iron Man 3 is about Tony giving up being Iron Man for Pepper's sake after it almost kills her, AoU is him going back on this, and Civil War is the predictable result of this leading to their separation

Then Homecoming and Infinity War imply this has been patched up and Infinity War firmly establishes Pepper is fully on board with Tony making a newer better Iron Man suit, without any clear explanation for the shift

It's especially harsh because the bad stuff in Age of Ultron and Civil War was very clearly directly the result of Tony refusing to stop meddling
