I never said he was civil. I wasn't shocked. None of what you are replying to me here applies to me. But keep making up your own mind about what people think without actually listening to them hey.

"uncivil" that should have said "uncivil" obvs. Him losing the interview at the end had nothing to do with him being uncivil and everything to do with him holding on too long to a topic his guest had responded to and made clear he didn't want to talk about. OK? good.

Persisting on topics of public interest even when your interviewee doesn't want to talk about them?Generally considered good journalism. An interviewer who's "tough", "doesn't pull punches", "doesn't let things slide", &c is valued.

I wouldn't say a deleted 3 year old tweet was in the public interest.

It wasn't just the one tweet, it was a whole rant about being "gender critical", and he hasn't actually remained silent in the years since then (he came out of the woodwork to defend JKR, for instance)

And in the original rant he was very explicit he'd held these beliefs for a long time and just didn't talk about them "as much as I should" Thorn has every right to have just as emotional a reaction to this as Webb originally had to "kids being transed"

I never said Jesse didn't have the right to be as emotional, personal, or pushy on this topic as he wanted to be. And Robert has the right to not talk about it.

And we all have the right to agree he's a cunt and call him out. Someone's right to do or not do something is not in fact a substitute for morality or ethics.

Calling someone names for saying that they don't want to go over a tweet they deleted 3 years ago, says more about you than them.

The tweet was a link to an article, which Webb then went on to defend at length (before he deleted everything), laying out a case at length that affirming trans children constitutes child abuse
