you do know about the law of large numbers, right

You treat your "homosexual" urges as something you'll have to "manage" for the rest of your life, like a twelve-step program for drinking or gambling
-
This is why, by the way, people should look askance at the concept of "sex addiction" treated through the twelve-step model, because in the real world these are often religiously based programs directly adjacent to modern gay conversion therapy

it's called "The Third Way" in Catholicism, or that's how it was framed by the youth ministry program our church used; basically, letting people be freely gay is bad, but hating them is also bad, so the compromise is for gay people to practice celibacy & self-denial forever
-
so everyone gets to feel really good about themselves as loving, accepting people because it's just applying the same standard of Catholic chastity to gay people that is applied to everyone else. a lot of gay people decide that that conditional acceptance is worth the tradeoff.
