BTW "three Medals of Honor" isn't ridiculous in quite the same way as Bruce Banner's "seven PhDs" but it is pretty ridiculous

I'd say it's more ridiculous, because a lot of people have PhDs so if you want to imply that Bruce is super-smart, it seems obvious to give him multiple ones. But there have only been a few thousand MoH recipients ever, so just having one is more than sufficiently impressive.

and post-Vietnam it’s almost impossible to be awarded a MoH without suffering a career-ending injury

And you have to imagine the standards of heroism must have changed post-Thanos. Hell, post Battle of New York.

The most galling thing about them saying John Walker is the only serviceman in US history to get "Three Medals of Honor" is it immediately raises the question of why Steve doesn't have that many, or if he even got any

Like that's the whole hilarious thing about this being a bullshit superhero universe How in God's name can whatever gritty realistic thing that happened in Afghanistan be more medal-worthy than the events of Captain America 1 and The Avengers

I mean yeah Steve gets branded a fugitive and a traitor starting with Winter Soldier but still come on He stopped the Red Skull from busting up the space-time continuum and shit He fought a big space dragon APC thing with his bare hands and his shield

I guess you could argue against him getting the MoH during TFA, because there were a lot of acts of heroism in WWII and his superpowers make him less vulnerable than other recipients. But he must have gotten one "posthumously" for crashing the plane and saving New York.
