There's a House episode where the solution to the medical mystery of the guy's bizarre random hallucinations and neurological symptoms is he has weak stomach acid so the psych meds he's taking as gelcaps aren't dissolving in his stomach, instead clumping up into a ball over time

What if one of those "When the edible hits" moments happened to you with SEVERAL edibles that had built up over the course of like a month A month of you going "Huh I guess edibles don't really work on -- OH SHI-"

IIRC that was Breckin Meyer’s episode and his problem was that his character was a pharma guinea pig testing multiple drugs, *including a new, weapons-grade antacid.*

Technically yes, but it is very intrusive. I have stomach digestive issues and can't take several meds for this reason. My stomach just can't digest their extended release system.

I've been actively avoiding that test.

As others said, there isn't an easy way. But you can look into getting some clues via things like taking betaine hydrochloride. The general idea is that if you take it and you feel better you may have low stomach acid, if you take it and you feel worse you may have normal acidity

If it's any reassurance, gelatin will break down with heat and liquid alone, given slightly more time.

Very gross but if you are not able to identify food that comes out because it looks the same as when it went in, you’re stomach is digesting things fine (not just corn but rice, mushrooms, spinach, basically anything with some fiber to it)
