This is a major theme of the 2014 Women's Prize winner A Girl Is a Half-Formed Thing, by Elmear MacBride, which is frequently commented on in contemporary reviews talking about the shocking and controversial depiction of the the protagonist's sex life

She's deleted it now but the OP was a comment saying "Would a *biological* woman have been considered for a prize if she wrote about women enjoying a rape fetish and seeking out abusive male sexual partners?"

I'm so fucking sick of this This, specifically TERFs not knowing what the fuck they're even talking about but making sweeping statements anyway to make their shitty little point

It's just like It's so obvious you only started caring about this shit now Regardless of the merits of the original point, you *wouldn't have said that* if you knew who won the prize in 2014 and if you generally followed the prize as a genuine interest of yours

This *constant fucking pattern* of TERFs suddenly discovering something *exists* as soon as a trans woman gets noticed for succeeding in it, and hastily moving in to defend their ancestral territory from invasion

Instead of insulting women and being an ignorant entitled man , how about you have a conversation with women why some things are a big fucking issue to women? But no fuck women who have their own spaces and sports and forums right. They aren't worthy of considered being human

So Arthur explains how somebody was being ignorant and making a baseless argument with the sole purpose of hurting trans people and you call him ignorant and entitled? This isn't "a big fucking issue to women." It's a political football for transphobes.

Right, and just pointing that the simple answer to OP's question, in the terms OP asked it, is "Yes" is somehow insulting women all over again

An open invitation to swarm right back in and talk about how the other book is infinitely artistically superior and objectively more female and so on

It's fucking absurd It's fucking OBVIOUS that it's much easier for cis women to get critical acclaim and win prizes and sell millions of books talking about "taboo" sexual topics than trans women Because many, many more cis women HAVE DONE IT

On literally any region of the scale between "trashy/commercial" vs. "literary/artistic", between "porn" and "art" Cis women have gotten all the money for talking about sex -- as an obvious corollary of the fact trans women have, for the most part, not gotten money for jack shit

Could any of these angry TERFs have named *a book* by a trans woman, period, before they lost their shit about Torrey Peters? But I'm pretty sure they've heard of books by cis women like 50 Shades of Gray, Clan of the Cave Bear, Fear of Flying, The Story of O
