I try not to be a pedant about these things and I get why the need for a snappy nickname but the MCU John Walker isn't "US Agent", he doesn't have a codename other than "the new Captain America" For various reasons, I think the arc where he becomes US Agent is... unlikely

i feel like this is related to the big shift in the MCU away from the secret-identity theme that characterizes legacy comics almost none of these characters have secret identities and so they don't really need codenames thor's name is literally just "thor"

nobody actually calls her "captain marvel" at any point, everyone just calls her some variation on carol danvers, because there's no gap between her private identity and her hero identity people relentlessly rag on quill for trying to call himself "star lord"

in TFATWS, the thing about "captain america" is that it doesn't function like a code name, it functions like a *title* hence people actually caring about it in-universe the question is whether any of them are worthy of that title

It is kind of a weird paradox how Thor is Thor's actual name but it's also, apparently, a title that anyone who becomes worthy of Thor's power can take away from him

Well that's not how it works really; they don't *become* Thor, they *wield the power of Thor.* It's like how Thor could still use lightning in Ragnarok without the hammer. The worthy may channel Thor's power through the hammer.

Steve didn't "become Thor," and the arc in the comics with Lady Thor, they didn't call her that because she had "become Thor" either, Thor himself had stopped using the name because he felt he'd dishonored himself and needed to earn it back.

Well okay but she still literally uses the name Thor Like if Elon Musk succumbed to humiliation and exile and somehow gave me all his money, I wouldn't actually start saying "I'm the new Elon now, you can call me Asian Elon"
