Like the fatal moment wasn't actually the phone going off it was him staring at it paralyzed with indecision, which is very uncharacteristic of the ruthless warlord known as the Smiling Tiger

He was made down at the bar with the shot. If he had experience at playing a role he would have known to not order anything or to order something like a shot of vodka - either approach would have maintained his cover

Yeah well he kind of naturally froze up when the bartender said "The usual?"

Right. Which is an aspect of his character not doing that kind of thing. Although now I'm imagining the Michael Weston voice over for the scene.

I mean I feel like saying "Nothing for me tonight, thanks" might be even more suspicious, depending on the kind of guy the Tiger is I feel like Sam was just trying to avoid talking as much as possible (surely the Tiger would have a different accent)

Snap to finger gun with a smile, let the drink sit on the bar, or just slosh it around a lot.

Anyway the fatal moment was definitely the phone going off and Sam freezing up in response He could've easily salvaged the situation by just declining the call or by arrogantly walking off to answer it That deer-in-headlights moment just screamed "I'M AN IMPOSTOR"

The hilarious thing about this moment though is the bad guys still aren't actually completely sure Sam is fake until they've heard the phone call He could've tried to salvage the phone call by doing anything other than what he did, which is just passively let his sister talk

The hilarious thing that even in this life-and-death moment the biggest concern in his mind was *not being rude to his sister* The correct move was obviously to go *warlord voice*: "I told you not to call this number unless it was an emergency."

"I am in an important meeting. Unless the deal has been *completed*, you are to hang up and not bother me again, or I will come down there and kill you myself. Is that understood?"

Very risky and dependent on Sarah being much quicker on the uptake about scary spy business than she evidently is But, you know, higher chance of success than what he actually did
