I get why people are uncomfortable about the idea but it seems to me that if this general concept is *ever* okay then it's only okay if it's as voluntary on the part of the surrogate as possible, which ideally means the decision to create the child is part of the process

The "Just adopt!" people seem to take this opposite view - that it's only ethical to ever conceive a child with the intention of the bio parents raising them, and therefore only ever ethical to "take" a child under conditions of tragic loss This seems backwards to me
